Here’s a look at my month with Ariel so far.
Seen in: The Little Mermaid, 1989
Website: https://princess.disney.com/ariel
My favorite songs:
- “Part of Your World”
- “Part of Your World (Reprise)”
- “Poor Unfortunate Souls”
- “Kiss the Girl”
- OK, and all the others…
My favorite things about Ariel:
- Her hair (this seems to be a common theme)
- She has a tail and her address is the ocean
- Her bravery and courage
- She’s a hoarder
- Her bff is Flounder, who is adorable
- Ariel knows what she wants (she literally sings a song about it)
Ariel’s most depressing moments:
- When her hoard is destroyed:

- When Vanessa (aka Ursula in disguise) puts Eric under her spell and sets sail to marry him:

My goals inspired by Ariel:
1. Do something to support the ocean
Status: Complete. I bought a bracelet from 4ocean – they clean up the trash polluting our oceans and shores so Ariel can swim
2. Go swimming, like duh
Status: Not started, which doesn’t make a lot of sense considering there’s a pool in my backyard
3. Make these sand dollar cookies
https://family.disney.com/recipe/sand-dollar-cookies/
Status: Not started, but soon because… cookie
4. Encourage/raise/promote my voice
- send an essay out for publication
- find a way to expand my blog
- go a day without speaking… see what Ariel had to deal with for 3 days
Status: Not started. I need to gather up all my change first to see what blog plan I can afford. I also need to get my butt in gear and go to the library and write and/or edit an essay. Shouldn’t be too hard, right? And for not talking for a whole day, I’m hoping to do this, but it is hard when you work with people every day. I’ll think of something.
5. Listen to music. I’m weird about music. I don’t really like to listen to it unless I’m in a certain mood. Depression makeslistening to music even more of a thing. There’s a lot of music in The Little Mermaid and so I thought this would be a fitting month to listen to music at least once a day. I think it’s good for you. I’m sure there’s a study about it somewhere.
Status: In progress
