Mary Poppins: Quotes and Goals

Here are some of my favorite Mary Poppins’ quotes from the movie (sorry for repeat photos):

“Never judge things by their appearance. Not even carpet bags. I’m sure I never do.”
“People who get their feet wet must learn to take their medicine.”
“Sometimes a little thing can be quite important.”
“Practically perfect people never permit sentiment to muddle their thinking.”
“In every job that must be done, the is an element of fun. You find the fun, and snap! The job’s a game!”

Goals Mary Poppins and I have Created for Me:

  • Tidy Up the Bedroom (see photo above).

When Mary Poppins sees Jane and Michael’s nursey for the first time, Jane says, “I’m afraid the nursery isn’t very tidy.” Mary Poppins replies, “It is rather like a bear bit.”

Well, my bedroom is an enormous bear bit and Mary Poppins says I have to figure out my own cleaning game (no snapping things to magically clean themselves for me).

  • Enjoy all things Mary Poppins including Mary Poppins the book, Mary Poppins Returns and Saving Mr. Banks.
  • Take more pride in my appearance. Mary Poppins reminds us to see past appearances, but she also takes pride in how she looks.

Depression and COVID have given me bad habits. If you’ve followed my blog for awhile, you know I’ve tried kicking myself of these bad habits before (Tiara Day Part 1, Tiara Day Part 2, Tiara Day Part 3, Tiara Tested, Disney Princess Week – Day 1, Day 1: Snow White, Disney Princess Week – Day 2, Day 2: Anna, Disney Princess Week – Day 3, Day 3: Sally, Disney Princess Week – Day 4, Day 4: Elsa, Disney Princess Week – Day 5, Day 5 – Esmeralda, Disney Princess Week Wrap Up). What I have learned about myself is that I’m good at starting things, but not so good at following through. So, the goal is back!

  • Try REALLY hard to fix my sleeping schedule. This means – stay awake during the day and sleep at night. Granted, I have sleep disorders, but I’m not helping myself by taking 2 hour naps after work.

This song is very inspiring:

Also, as a reminder Mary Poppins is staying “until the wind changes.” So, that could be the end of March… or it could not.
